An excellent Ruby tutorial - Geared toward the beginner.
The Official Ruby Book - AKA The Pickaxe. Most of it assumes the reader has intermediate or better skills.
Why's Poignant Guide to Ruby - A comic book tutorial for Ruby.

Other MUD Utilities:

zMUD - An extremely popular MUD client that I've never tried, but that people swear by.
PsiNet - A GemStone IV-only add-on (yes, I'm aware that its developer -- Brian/Jamus -- thinks I'm the anti-Christ.)
Black Lightning - A plugin-esque utility for the StormFront front end.
